While we would prefer to source our Organic Garlic Powder that is grown, peeled and processed in central California we have been unable to find a reliable supplier for this. At this time our Organic Garlic Powder is grown in China.
Every year over 15,000+ garlic lovers flock to Gilroy, California to attend the annual garlic festival where they get to sample the unusual and the exotic. What true fan of garlic doesn’t at least smile at the thought of garlic candy, pie, ice-cream, toothpaste (yes toothpaste) and soap!
Garlic comes in many forms and can be prepared in multiple ways and when cooking its flavor is both sweetened and softened. Garlic powder, because it disperses easily in liquids, is an excellent choice for white sauces and other recipes where flavor, but not texture or bulk, is desired. It is also frequently used in dressings, tomato based dishes and for making your own spice blends.
If you're looking for garlic flavor and a bit more texture we carry an Organic Roasted Garlic Flake (from China) and our Organic Granulated Garlic (from China) is more easily dispersed than flakes and provides more bulk and thickening that powdered garlic. If you are looking for garlic grown in California then please see our non-organic Garlic Flakes (from California), Granulated Garlic and Garlic Powder.
Helpful hints: When choosing garlic cloves you want to be sure to select cloves that are hard and with no visible sprouts. Use caution when cooking as you don’t want to burn it or it will develop a bitter taste.
We are frequently asked about garlic powder conversion - One-half a teaspoon of garlic powder is equal to one garlic clove.
And if you are in the mood for some recipe ideas with garlic in a leading role then you will find these both easy to prepare and delightful to enjoy – Garlic Bread, Garlic Mustard Sauce, Crab Noodle Salad and Saffron Garlic Shrimp. Sorry no recipe for garlic toothpaste!
And if you are on the east coast then you should check out the Glorious Garlic Festival held each August in New York's Finger Lakes Region.
