Common in Bangladesh, Indian and Pakistan cuisines Garam Masala is a general purpose, spicy warm (but not necessarily hot) Indian seasoning. A traditional ingredient in Indian dahl, kormas, samosas and tandoori Indian cooks use it primarily to flavor meat and poultry. It originated in northern India and is also known as masala curry or masala curry powder. As with many regional seasoning blends around the globe the exact ingredients in Garam Masala will vary according to region, village/city and family. Helpful hint: Add the ground Garam Masala towards the end of the cooking process so that the flavor is not lost. Ingredients: cumin, ground coriander, cardamom powder, black pepper, korintje cinnamon, ground clove, ground nutmeg and saffron. Some of the popular disches with Garam Masla playing a leading role are Butter Chicken, Amritsari Chole, Curry Rubbed Salmon and Rogan Josh. We also carry a full selection of Curry Powders including the popular Sweet Curry Powder, Ras El Hanout, Madras Curry and an Organic Garam Masala.
