Onion Soup Mix

Are you looking for a healthy substitute to the supermarket French onion soup mix? If you're a label reader then you know that most commercial mixes contain hydrogenated oils, MSG and some even use wheat, which of course is a non-starter if you're cooking gluten free.
Our versatile onion soup mix can be used as a base ingredient for casseroles, dips and sauces. We've also used it with hamburgers, meatloaf and pot roast with great results.
This is a handy soup mix to keep in your cupboard for a quick and easy onion soup recipe or top with some cheese croutons for a simple French onion soup. To make a killer onion soup add 1 cup of freshly chopped onions to a 4 quart pot, add 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil and sauté the onions until caramelized (about 15-20 minutes). Add 1-1/4 cup of soup mix and stir 30 seconds, add 6 cups of beef broth and ½ cup of apple juice or apple cider and bring to a simmer. Cover and cook on low about 25 minutes. Makes 4-5 cups of soup.
To make a spectacular onion dip for fresh veggies or chips simply stir1 tablespoon of onion soup mix into 1/2 cup of low fat sour cream.
Now while this is a super handy mix to have on hand don't overestimate it's use and expect it to taste like a French onion soup made from scratch with all fresh ingredients.
Hand blended from minced onion, turmeric, sugar, celery salt, parsley, and black pepper
