Lemon Pepper
Our salt-free Lemon Pepper seasoning has a tickling, fruity aroma, deliciously lemony with a spicy pepper twinge. Tart citrus greets you at first taste, and then onion and thyme step in and drive this blend’s savory backbeat. The pepper comes in at the end, closing out the blend of flavors with its crisp, slightly floral flavor and gentle heat. A popular pepper blend, our Lemon Pepper is a great choice for those who are on a low sodium diet or those looking to eliminate salt from their diet. Citrusy lemon is a natural flavor enhancer, brightening flavors in much the same way that salt does.
We consume, on average, about twice as much salt on a daily basis as recommended. Our diets are increasingly dependent on pre-packaged or processed food, which often uses salt as a seasoning and preservative. Just like everything, a little salt in moderation is fine, but many people reach for the salt shaker by force of habit, despite what’s already been packaged into our food. This trains our palates to expect highly salted food as the norm and ups our susceptibility to physical issues; high blood pressure is one of the most common effects of elevated salt intake. Replacing salty seasonings with salt-free blends is an easy first step on the path to a delicious low-sodium diet.
Tips From Our Kitchen
Use Lemon Pepper seasoning as a rub for mild white fish, like halibut or cod. It’s a trendy and delicious topping for chicken wings. It goes beautifully with tofu; just cut into cubes, toss in lemon pepper with some olive oil and bake. Mix with butter and slather over roast chicken. Or, mix with butter, let it resolidify in the refrigerator, and use to mount vegetables fresh off the grill. Sprinkle lemon pepper into pasta salad, or in a pasta dish with goat cheese and spinach. It is very easy to overdo it with this seasoning blend. It has quite a strong flavor, so take care to use only a little at a time.
Our lemon pepper is hand-blended with black pepper, onion, thyme, coriander, lemon peel, organic lemon juice powder, and citric acid.
