Tunisian Five Spice
Commonly known as Qalat Daqqa this Tunisian "five spice blend" is also sometimes spelled Qalat Dagga or Qalat Dakka. Containing the rare spice Grains of Paradise this spicy blend is best recognized as a seasoning for vegetable and meat based couscous, stews and tagines.We also like to use it as a dry rub or mix with oil to make a marinade for lamb, duck and chicken. The flavor of Tunisian Five Spice is warm and sweet and is especially delicious with winter squashes, pumpkin, eggplant, spinach, chickpeas and other beans. You can also use this as a base for casseroles with stock, curries or mix in with your rice or couscous as a standalone seasoning.
Hand blended from pepper, cloves, grains of paradise, Korintje cinnamon and nutmeg.
