Flavors of the Caribbean

Flavors of the Caribbean

Take a cruise to the Caribbean without ever leaving your kitchen. The soul of Caribbean cooking is found in the extensive use of fresh fish, chicken, vegetables and tropical fruits. No matter the island good home cooked Caribbean cuisine is known for the sophisticated use of various island spices and herbs. With this unique spice seasoning set you can give the gift of the islands to remind someone close to you about that great vacation.

This spice set includes:

  1. Caribbean Spice - Caribbean cuisine is like the ultimate melting pot of flavors. The meal influences go back to the islands early role given their ideal location on the spice trade routes into the Americas. Our Caribbean Spice Seasoning oozes this island flavor but this blend isn’t hot and has the added benefit of being a salt free seasoning. Ideal for your chicken, fish, ribs and pork chops.
  2. Jamaican Jerk - Jerk rub has a reputation for its subtle heat and this blend won't disappoint. Our Jamaican Seasoning is convenient enough to use in everyday cooking, but is packed with enough special flair to be used for any backyard grilling celebration. Use as a Jamaican Jerk Rub or sprinkle it on chicken, pork, beef, fish, seafood (most definitely on shrimp) before grilling or broiling.
  3. Adobo Lime Rub - In this well made adobo, none of the spices dominate but instead create a delicate balance for maximum taste. Many adobos call for the addition of citrus juices but for this Puerto Rican influenced blend we have already added some lime zest for more convenience (add a squirt or two of fresh lime zest to send this over the top). We like this Adobo Lime Rub best on chicken and lighter seafood like tilapia and salmon.
  4. Mojo Seasoning - Cuban cuisine is as varied as the origins of the country itself, where it has been influenced by African, Arabic, Chinese, French, Portuguese and Spanish cultures. Many dishes have a sofrito base. A typical sofrito is made from garlic, green pepper, onion, oregano and is quick fried in olive oil. This is the ideal seasoning for an authentic Cuban sofrito base which gives these classic dishes their signature flavor and is typically used when cooking black beans, many meat dishes, stews and tomato-based sauces.
