Custom Spice Blends

While we try to return to normal operating capacity we have suspended all new custom blend projects. We hope to have the program open to new customers again by the end of the year. We apologize for any inconvenience.


Custom Blending

There are several reasons customers come to us for their custom blending needs. Maybe they're a multi-location restaurant that wants to keep their blend(s) consistent and not have their secret recipe at the individual restaurant level. Perhaps they're a growing seasoning company and they're looking to scale up, while wanting to eliminate the operational hassle of blending themselves (while also eliminating carrying costs involved with storing individual spices) so that they can concentrate on what they do best - marketing their business.

Spices Inc. has experience working with businesses of all shapes and sizes. This includes anything from large scale food manufacturers and national brewers, down to one blend seasoning companies and small family owned restaurants. You can find Spices Inc. blends being used in kitchens and specialty shops all over the country. That means that we've likely dealt with somebody similar to you and your business. If we haven't, we'd love the opportunity to get smarter.
We started this company in a bedroom of our house so we know what kind of pressure you might be under as an entrepreneur. One of the perks of this job is getting to see people come to us with an idea and watch it blossom into a full-fledged business.


Chances are that if you've found us you've at least done a little research into other blending companies. In doing so you've likely seen that the minimums can be in the 200 to 500 lb range or in some cases 3,000 units of a single product. That can be an overwhelming amount for a new business - especially if you're looking at doing multiple blends. Every entrepreneur wants to sell product but doesn't want a garage full of said product if things don't pan out right. Our minimums take that into account which is why we have a low minimum of just 40 lbs. We can scale it to hundreds of pounds if that's what your business needs, but to get started we allow you to start small. This reduces your risk if things don't go exactly as planned.

The two options for packaging are the 40 lb bulk boxes or we can private label them for you in 1/2 cup glass jars. The minimum for the 1/2 cup glass jars is 192 jars or 16 cases. Since everything is hand filled we don't offer any other packaging options besides the bulk boxes or the ½ cup jars.

Setup Fees

There is a one-time setup fee of $50 per recipe. The fee covers processing your recipe and a test batch. If you wish to have your custom blend private labeled there will be additional setup fees to create your label. If your recipe requires some development assistance there may be some additional fees.


One of our customer service pillars is a quick and speedy turnaround on all orders. That's why we guarantee that 99.9% of orders go out the door the same day as long as they are in by 3:30 PM EDT. After we get the initial setup done for your custom blend we can typically even turn those around same day. Even large orders over 200 lbs typically ship within two business days at the most. That means that your blend is going to be as fresh as possible and you don't have to worry about long lead times to get your product. Your Recipe

Recipes given to us in ounces (down to 1/10th of an ounce) will result in faster turnaround times by allowing us to get your recipe in queue and to our production team as quickly as possible. We can certainly work in other measurements but it may cause additional time in sample production and additional fees.

The Process

To get started you can reach out and request a Non-Disclosure Agreement and Recipe Template. The NDA will ensure you that we won't sell or share your recipe with anybody besides our in-house blenders and the B2B team. The Recipe Template will ensure that we have the exact ingredients and measurements you want in your blend. Once you have that signed and back to us with your recipe we can make you a test batch and provide you with pricing. After you've received and approved the test batch, then we can get started on your first order and get it out the door. Typical turnaround time from the payment of the setup fee to the first order is around 15 days depending on how dialed in you have your recipe.

If you're looking to private label your spice blend you can also send along your logo and contact info and at that point and we can get started on a mockup label for you to approve. The initial setup of the order may require a day or two to get out the door, but then all future orders will likely be shipped out the same day.
