Pennsylvania Pepper
Our signature salt-free pepper blend is more than just pepper; it’s an aromatic cornucopia of seasonings designed for delicious delight. Black pepper brings its steady burn, piney flavor and citrus-floral top notes, which are held in place by the deep flavors of garlic and onion. Green and red bell peppers provide pops of sweetness in between the savory flavors, and crisp celery seed contributes a pleasant bitterness and astringency that lingers. We blend our Pennsylvania Pepper in small batches, by hand, to guarantee that our customers receive the freshest product possible, and maintain consistent quality standards on one of our longest standing, most popular blends.
Pennsylvania Pepper was the second blend that we created from scratch when we first started our business back in 2008; the first was our Manzanillo Seasoning. Before starting this business we’d ordered pepper blends from our now-competition, and looked back on the blends we’d liked for inspiration. We didn't know it at the time but this was also the start of our comprehensive selection of salt-free seasonings. Today Pennsylvania Pepper is one of our signature blends. It’s one of the most popular samples that we send out to first-time customers, it is one of our most reviewed products, and also one that is most likely to be shared by our customers with close friends and family.
Tips From Our Kitchen
We use Pennsylvania Pepper on everything. It’s great mixed into grilled burgers, and as part of a rub for baked or grilled chicken or fish. Sprinkle some across your scrambled eggs and omelettes, or add some perk to green salads. Mix into creamy potato or tuna salad. It can stand up to heat (and the bitter celery seed will sweeten a bit with heat) so toss just about any vegetable you can think of and roast, grill, or steam them. Use it to add a final pop of flavor to soup before serving.
Our salt-free Pennsylvania Pepper is made from black pepper, onion, garlic, roasted red bell pepper, green bell pepper and celery seed.
