Ranch Dressing Seasoning
Ranch Dressing Seasoning is flavorful potpourri of fragrant seasonings, built on a framework of good old salt and pepper. The aromatic pungency of onion and garlic takes charge in this seasoning blend, opening the palate so it can receive the full impact of dill’s assertive, herbal grassiness and parsley’s vibrant minerality. Pops of salt and the gentle heat of black pepper provide punchy impact that brings this seasoning blend alive. We blend our Ranch Dressing Seasoning in small batches in our facility, to preserve freshness and flavor in our products.
Ranch dressing is an American institution with an interesting backstory. Despite its ubiquitous presence on grocery store shelves and in restaurants all across American, this much-beloved condiment has only been around since the 1950s. In 1949, while working as a plumbing contractor in Alaska, Kenneth Henson created a buttermilk dressing, that he would serve with rave reviews to his fellow contractors. In 1954 Henson bought a dude ranch in California, where he would serve his special dressing to guests at the ranch. Though the ranch struggled financially, requests for the dressing, which Henson had started to sell in foil packets, kept coming. They were so successful that in 1972, the Clorox company bought their original recipe and rights to their name for a cool $8 million. By 1983 they determined how to make the dairy-based ranch dressing shelf-stable. Sales skyrocketed. Since 1992, ranch dressing has held the top spot as America’s favorite salad dressing, and its reign won’t be ending any time soon.
Tips From Our Kitchen
To make a creamy ranch dressing at home, combine 2 tablespoons of dry ranch dressing, 2 cups of mayonnaise, 2 cups of buttermilk, 1-1/2 cups of sour cream and 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Refrigerate for about 2 hours before using to let the flavors develop. This makes about 2 quarts of dressing.
You can also use this Ranch Dressing Seasoning with just sour cream for a dip that’s right for vegetables, pizza, and fried food. Mix into coleslaw for a fun way to ranch-ify chicken sliders. Toss in a bread coating and have air-fried cauliflower, or toss over sautéed burgers for a fantastic burger topping. Mix into mashed potatoes, or toss boiled potatoes in melted butter mixed with Ranch Dressing Seasoning. Bake seasoned pretzels with ranch dressing or toss over popcorn for a fun, savory treat.
Our Ranch Dressing Seasoning is blended from onion, garlic, salt, parsley, black pepper and dill.
