Taco Seasoning

Taco Seasoning
Taco Seasoning
Warm and brisk, savory and sweet, with a little bit of tingling spice, our Taco Seasoning is a fun way to indulge in a little Mexican flair. Hand-blended with chili powder, paprika, onion, garlic, cumin, brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne, and Mexican oregano, this salt-free seasoning makes delicious homemade tacos with minimal effort. We put the focus on the warmth of chili powder, paprika, and cumin, shored up by fragrant garlic and onion. Cayenne and black pepper add spikes of heat that don’t overwhelm the flavors, and sugar and Mexican oregano lighten up the whole blend with bright flavor and an herbal top note. We’ve left the salt out; this lively blend doesn’t need it!
Tacos have a humble beginning in the silver mines of 19th-century Mexico. Charges the miners would use to blast through the rock in the mines were wrapped in tidy little packages of paper and were hand-held. The image of a small but explosive package eventually translated to tidy little packages of explosively seasoned meat or avocados wrapped in a tortilla. They were originally called tacos de minero—miner’s tacos—but the public embraced them so fully that tacos lost their association with mining and became an institution unto themselves.
Tips From Our Kitchen
Brown your favorite meat and add 8oz of water and 4 tablespoons of Taco Seasoning for every pound of meat. Works with ground beef, turkey, pork, and chicken, and is also a wonderful seasoning base for red beans and rice. Cut fresh corn directly off the cob and sauté with Taco Seasoning. Finish with some butter for extra warmth. Sprinkle over potato wedges and roast until crispy.
Our salt-free Taco Seasoning blend contains chili powder, paprika, onion, garlic, cumin, brown sugar, black pepper, cayenne and Mexican oregano
