Black Onyx Cocoa Powder Fantastically Dark/Black Cocoa Powder! Delicious and a perfect addition to my Home Baking Business Cocoa Powder Inventory. Difficult to find in a Brick/Mortar business and Spices Inc's prices are very reasonable. Their shipping is also phenomenal!

Black Onyx cocoa I love this cocoa! It is deep, dark and Rich in flavor with a hint of smokiness to it. It's great in Castle recipes but make sure to decrease the fast content as recommended. It's also great for savory dishes!

Strong and concentrated This cocoa probably take 1/3 of what recipes calls for used it for brownies And had to top with ice cream to mellow it. It has a great flavor!

Spicy! I am a huge fan of black onyx cocoa, and I normally buy the Cocoa Trader brand, since their cocoa is pitch black. However, I wanted to avoid Amazon and find new suppliers. I purchased both Brommer's cocoa and Spices, Inc Black cocoa to test against Hershey's dark cocoa, since that is what most people are familiar with. My thoughts: 1. Spices, Inc: * The Black Onyx cocoa is not as pitch black as Cocoa Trader's. * The cocoa has a better smell, a spicy smell that Cocoa Traders lacks. * Spices, Inc cocoa arrived in both a bag and a plastic jug (I can refill the jug with the bag.) Cocoa Traders only comes in bags, which are awkward to use with Tbps and awkward to pour out (The cocoa gets everywhere). * Due to how tightly the container is packed, Spices, Inc cocoa clumps more. 2. Brommers: similar to the rich dark brown of Spices. * Smells like an oreo cookie. * This one is expected to mix with natural, undutched cocoa for a richer taste, but I like it straight. 3. Cocoa Traders: * Darkest cocoa * Smells more like rich loam than cocoa * Tastes great anyway. Needs natural cocoa to fill out the flavor profile. 4. Hershey's: * Smells heavenly, just like what cocoa is expected to smell like. * Clumps up badly. * Taste is fine. All in all, I have not tasted the Spices, Inc cocoa long enough to give a true taste rating, but I LOVE the spiciness I smell. I love adding cinnamon and ground Pasilla peppers to my cocoa sauces, so this brand is a new favorite.
