Asafoetida Powder I have used this product for about a year. I really like it but it took awhile to learn how to use it. I now use it to poach chicken for salads, casseroles, etc. I add more to casseroles to get an even stronger onion taste. I sprinkle it on steaks, ribs, chicken roasted or sauteed, pork and seafood. It has been hard to live without onions and garlic but this product has helped greatly. I wish it came with an expiration date. Thanks for providing this great product.

Asafoetida Powder But the freshness is super and this is such a hard to find spice. The price is great as well, and having it available in several different sizes makes it so easy to try - just in case you like to 'play with your food' a bit like we do. I really don't know how we got along without Spices Inc. We tried other online spice companies, but they don't come close.

Asafoetida Powder Asafoetida must be blended with other dry ingredients to exist in a powder state (otherwise it۪s a gummy lump or waxy block) and the rice flour, gum arabic combination with the asafoetida maintains the taste integrity of the asafoetida. Before I found Spices Inc, I was disappointed in what was being sold as asafoetida. I received one bag of asafoetida mixed with turmeric from a competitor and another bag from another company where the asafoetida was mixed with fenugreek! What if I don't want those spices in my stew? And, IMO, asafoetida and fenugreek don't even belong in the same dish. I obviously know my asafoetida, but if it is a new spice for you, don۪t stick your finger in to taste it. Not only will it taste bad, the smell is intense. The magic of asafoetida is released once it is heated in oil. It has a pleasant garlicky taste. I make a saut̩ed potato, peas and cauliflower dish with asafoetida that is truly a guilty pleasure. I use this spice a lot. I will be posting more recipes using asafoetida in the Joey۪s Kitchen section on my new web site: playwithyourveggies.com. My friend, Roo, also uses asafoetida in her recipes found in the section, Bombay Bites.

Not Pure Ingredients in package: Rice Flour, Asafoetida Powder, and Gum Arabic. I missed this description in the subtle "helpful hints," which also states tumeric is added. Ordered this package believing the product to be pure Asafoetida Powder. However this is a diluted mixture. Not satisfied with purchase. Rice flour is not gluten free.
