Pastrami Seasoning
Pastrami Seasoning
Pastrami Seasoning is an MSG-free spice blend that is good for much more than just pastrami. It is also referred to as pastrami rub, pastrami spices, pastrami spice blend, pastrami spice mix, or pastrami dry rub.
This blend does contain some salt, but we kept the content low so this blend could be used to make a fully brined pastrami. When using it for other purposes you may need to add some salt to get full flavor.
Pastrami Seasoning is regularly sought after by:
- jerky, snack, sauce, condiment, and bread and bagel manufacturers;
- butchers;
- bakeries;
- seasoning companies; and
- independent spices shops
Flavor Profile
Pastrami Seasoning is earthy, umami, and fruity, with an herbaceous top note and a touch of smoke.
How To Use
Pastrami Seasoning was created to go with a brined pastrami, but to show off its style we’re pairing it with hearty fish in Pastrami-Crusted Baked Salmon. We also made a crave-inducing Pastrami Seasoned Bison Burger, with Pastrami Seasoning in the bison, in the onion straws, and in the whiskey glaze. Swap Pastrami Seasoning in as the main flavor when making Halloumi Fries. Add it to ground pork—along with a touch of salt—to make an uncased Sausage with Waffles. Or whisk this into the eggs when making a Bacon and Spinach Frittata. Pastrami Seasoning goes well with beef, seafood, pork, eggs, chicken, chicken wings, tofu, seitan, and cheese, and with vegetables like spinach, onions, corn, potatoes, and cauliflower.
When adding to a pastrami brine, we recommend adding 1 Tablespoon of Pastrami Seasoning per quart of brining liquid.
