Memphis Style Dry Rib Rub
Memphis Style Dry Rib Rub
Memphis Style BBQ Rib Rub is a savory, warm rib rub that adds hearty flavor to ribs, grilled or smoked pork, and anything else you want to put on the fire. It is also called Memphis dry rub, Memphis BBQ rub or Memphis rib rub.
Pork has been an integral part of Tennessee ever since pigs were first introduced to that region in the mid-1500’s. Since then, Memphis-style BBQ has become one of America’s celebrated regional cooking styles, with pork as its bedrock. This blend captures the flavor of Memphis BBQ and while it was designed as a dry rub, it’s easy to make into a sauce that chefs can use as a wet rub.
Our Memphis Style Dry Rib Rub is a popular choice with brewpubs, breweries, BBQ and American restaurants; seasoning companies; independent spice shops; and olive oil shops. It is also frequently purchased by companies who manufacture dip mixes.
Flavor Profile
Warm, savory and a bit of smokiness with a background of cayenne and black pepper.
How to Use
Use this rub to make incredible Smoked Ribs and, if you want a wet rub, use it as the seasoning blend when you make the Homemade BBQ Sauce to dress it in. Make a Simple Red Sauce with this blend for a traditional Memphis spaghetti, mixing pulled pork and marinara for a local treat. Use it to flavor Savory Corn Fritters, hush puppies, or roasted corn. You can even swap it in to make Smoked Turkey sandwiches—just don’t forget the sweet pickles and the slaw.
When smoking, we recommend using 1 tablespoon of Memphis Style Dry Rib Rub per pound of meat.
