Combining celery seed and sea salt, our Celery Salt delivers the grassy, vegetal, pleasing bitterness of celery with the flavor-enhancing power of salt. Celery Salt is also known as bulk celery salt and is blended in our facility in small batches.

Celery Salt has long held a position on standard spice racks, but its origins are difficult to determine. According to some popular theories, the combination of celery’s naturally rich supply of nitrate with sodium was a particularly effective, and tasty, method for preserving meat. Another idea posits that celery seed, on its own, is a flavor enhancer, so combining it with salt helped to lower sodium intake before low-sodium diets were commonplace.

Celery Salt is popular with seafood, barbecue, and American restaurants, cafes, food trucks, delis, seasoning companies, manufacturers of sauces, gourmet nuts, dip mixes, and bloody mary mixes, as well as spice and olive oil shops.

Flavor Profile

How to Use

Celery Salt’s simple yet herby boost may surprise you. Add it to freshly sliced tomato and crusty bread for a quick and delicious summer lunch. Use it to draw out the flavors in delicate foods, like crab cakes or lobster rolls. Add it to just about any stew or soup you can imagine–stir it into Split Pea Soup,Chicken and Dumplings,Chicken and Sausage Jambalaya, or Hungarian Beef Stew. It goes beautifully in potato and macaroni salad, so put it on a traditional salad or toss it over the sweet potatoes and enjoy Roasted Sweet Potato with Smoky Chipotle Dressing. It adds a salty-herbaceous kick to freshly buttered corn on the cob. Let it boost your flavors in a classic southern Hoppin’ John, or use it to rim your glass when you make your next bloody Mary. Use as a finishing salt in Asian stir-fries, stir into vinaigrettes, and rub with black pepper over an entire chicken before roasting.
