Apple Pie Spice
Apple Pie Spice
Apple Pie Spice, also referred to as apple pie spices or apple pie seasoning, is a salt-free, MSG-free blend that is appealingly sweet and aromatic.
“As American as apple pie” is a common expression, but neither sweet apples nor pie were developed in America. Apples were first cultivated in Asia and traded to Europe. It wasn’t until the 14th century when a master chef of King Richard III discusses how to make “Tartys in Applis”—apple tarts. The pilgrims who landed in Jamestown brought their apple seeds with them and favored them over the sour crabapple, the only indigenous apple in America, for larger, sweeter, more productive fruit.
Apple Pie Spice is regularly purchased by seasoning companies; meal mix, subscription, and apple butter, cider, and jam manufacturers; steak houses, brewpubs, and food trucks; independent spice shops; olive oil shops; and breweries.
We also offer this in an Organic Apple Pie Spice version.
Flavor Profile
Warm, woodsy, and sweet, with notes of citrus and fruit and a little touch of spice.
How to Use
The sweet, spicy combination of Apple Pie Spice is, of course, perfect in apple pie, but don’t stop there. It can transform ordinary pork chops into something special like Caramel Apple Pork Chops. Add these Apple Cider Sweet Potatoes for the perfect winter side dish. Apple Pie French Toast Casserole offers a delicious twist to plain French toast. Or, enjoy Apple Pie Fries or Sopapillas as a warm winter snack.
Apple Pie Spice works well with a variety of fruit desserts, so try it with cobbler, crème brûlée, or tarte tatin. Sprinkle over oatmeal. Make a fruit compote seasoned with Apple Pie Spice. Brighten up barbecue sauces with this sweet seasoning.
