Enchilada Seasoning
Enchilada Seasoning
Enchilada Seasoning is an MSG-free seasoning blend that is also known as enchilada spice blend, enchiladas seasoning, or enchiladas spice mix.
The Aztecs originally called enchiladas chillapitzalli, a compound word from the Nahuatl language that means “chile flute”, referring to the elongated shape of a rolled tortilla. Over the course of the Spanish occupation of Mexico, the language changed and this dish was given the Spanish-language name enchilada, from the Spanish verb enchilar, or “seasoned with chiles”.
Enchilada Seasoning is popular with independent spice shops and seasoning companies.
Flavor Profile
Enchilada Seasoning tastes earthy and pungent with a playful heat and a touch of sweetness.
How To Use
Use Enchilada Seasoning to make your own Chili Enchiladas or swap it in as the main seasoning in Red Enchilada Sauce. Add directly to shrimp, chicken, or beef for a tasty sauté. This versatile blend would be perfect as a sweet, gently spicy chili powder, so mix some into Vegetarian Bean Chili or Easy Homemade Chili for an easy and flavorful dish. Sprinkle over Sweet Potato Chili Fries for a spicy take on some comfort food.
Enchilada Seasoning is delicious on pulled pork, ground turkey, grilled or roasted chicken, grilled shrimp, and over scrambled eggs and rice. Stir into pasta salad, tortilla soup, braised meats, and other grilled or roasted vegetables.
