Enchilada Seasoning is an MSG-free seasoning blend that is also known as enchilada spice blend, enchiladas seasoning, or enchiladas spice mix.

The Aztecs originally called enchiladas chillapitzalli, a compound word from the Nahuatl language that means “chile flute”, referring to the elongated shape of a rolled tortilla. Over the course of the Spanish occupation of Mexico, the language changed and this dish was given the Spanish-language name enchilada, from the Spanish verb enchilar, or “seasoned with chiles”.

Enchilada Seasoning is popular with independent spice shops and seasoning companies.

Flavor Profile

Enchilada Seasoning tastes earthy and pungent with a playful heat and a touch of sweetness.

How To Use

Use Enchilada Seasoning to make your own Chili Enchiladas or swap it in as the main seasoning in Red Enchilada Sauce. Add directly to shrimp, chicken, or beef for a tasty sauté. This versatile blend would be perfect as a sweet, gently spicy chili powder, so mix some into Vegetarian Bean Chili or Easy Homemade Chili for an easy and flavorful dish. Sprinkle over Sweet Potato Chili Fries for a spicy take on some comfort food.

Enchilada Seasoning is delicious on pulled pork, ground turkey, grilled or roasted chicken, grilled shrimp, and over scrambled eggs and rice. Stir into pasta salad, tortilla soup, braised meats, and other grilled or roasted vegetables.

Full flavor no salt Great flavor without all the salt not too hot. Added to diced tomatoes and tomato sauce i did not have to add canned enchiladas sauce ( in which has lots of salt). Plus made a lot of dishes flavorful for me.

Enchilada Seasoning I was in a huge hurry one night (as often is the case and Spice's Inc comes to my rescue)-so I needed to throw something together. I had a rotisserie chicken in the fridge and some tortillas. I took a can of tomato sauce and I threw this Enchilada Seasoning in with it (no time even to make a simple enchilada sauce) and heated it up. Meanwhile microwaved the chicken and sprinkled some Manzanello seasoning (also found here at Spice's Inc) on it. Then put the chicken in the tortillas, placed in a pan, poured the tomato sauce/enchilada seasoning on it , sprinkled some cheese ontop, threw in the oven with instructions for the family to pull out in 20 minutes or so as I flew out the door. It turned out amazingly good! It was as if I made an enchilada sauce. I can't wait to try this using my actual enchilada sauce recipe but the family loved it and couldn't tell I didn't work for an hour on it . Highly recommend and this will now become a staple spice in my kitchen.
