Granulated Molasses is made from cane sugar, cane molasses, and cane caramel. It is also known as molasses crystals, bulk molasses, molasses granules, or granular molasses.

Dark molasses, a by-product of the second boiling in sugar cane processing, is brought to a liquid state and bonded with liquid sugar, which allows the granules to re-form into intermingled crystals. These crystals retain molasses’s sweet, dusky warmth, and are rich without being overpowering. Our Granulated Molasses will pour easily without leaving sticky residue on jars or countertops, and blends smoothly into liquids.

Granulated Molasses is popular with:

  • seasoning companies;
  • barbecue and American restaurants;
  • coffee shops;
  • food trucks;
  • coffee, tea, honey, and dip mix manufacturers;
  • independent spice shops; and
  • breweries

Flavor Profile

Warm and sweet with the pleasantly burnt notes of dark caramel.

How to Use

Granulated Molasses gives delicious depth to both savory and sweet dishes. Use it when making homemade Ketchup or Cherry Balsamic BBQ Sauce. Add it to baked beans or spice rubs for low-and-slow smoking. Granulated Molasses gives rich sweetness to dishes like zesty Chili Lime Steak Quesadilla or an acorn squash stuffed with chestnuts and apples.

It’s great in oatmeal, gingerbread cookies or this warm Gingerbread Spice Cake. Mix into banana-nut bread. It adds dimension to baked sweet potatoes, jerky, barbecue rubs, .

If you are using this to replace liquid molasses, start with a 1 to 1 ratio, and adjust to meet your tastes.  Baked goods primarily sweetened with Granulated Molasses tend to darken quickly, so lower cooking temperature by 25 degrees to help goods bake more evenly.

Granulated Molasses goes well with pork, ginger, apples, beef, mustard, coffee, cumin, coconut, cardamom, chipotle, allspice, and cinnamon.
