Piri Piri Seasoning is a salt-free, MSG-free seasoning blend. It is also called peri peri seasoning powder, pili pili, peri peri powder, piri seasoning or piri piri spice mix. Pilipili means “pepper” in Swahili.

This seasoning blend arose from piri-piri sauce (or peri-peri, or pili-pili). The history of this sauce is murky and rambling, caught up in the history of Portuguese conquistadors and their travels through Africa and Brazil. Though different regions that enjoy piri piri use different ingredients to make this sauce, they all agree that there should be a bright burst of heat and some tart citrus to brighten it up.

Businesses that frequently purchase our Piri Piri Seasoning include:

  • fondue restaurants;
  • brewpubs;
  • food trucks;
  • coffee shops;
  • independent spice shops;
  • olive oil shops; and
  • seasoning companies

Flavor Profile

How To Use

Piri Piri Halloumi Burgers with Citrus Slaw is a grown-up version of grilled cheese that may change you forever. Try swapping Piri Piri Seasoning into this fragrant Grilled Chicken served over a tomato salad, or give a spicy kick to these Spiced Meatballs with Rice. Toss the with carrots and roast for another take on Spiced Carrots with Whipped Feta. Piri Piri Seasoning goes well with both eggs and tomatoes, so reach for this next time you make the vegetable-rich Spinach and Egg Shakshuka.

Choose Piri Piri Seasoning when making chicken, cheese, seafood, beef, tofu, vegetables, and rice, or for soups, stews, sauces, dressings, and marinades.

Wow, Just Wow! This spice is delicious! On fried chicken, or pork it really stands out, with a strong floral heat. The lemon taste comes on at the end and is just phenomenal. My family doesn't like it as spicy as I do, but the can not get enough of Piri Piri! A real winner

Piri Piri Seasoning Piri-Piri makes a great rub for grilling pork, chicken, beef and seafood. I rubbed this Piri-Piri on a pork loin and marinaded it overnight (12 to 24 hours) and grilled/smoked it the next day on my weber grill. I add pecan wood chucks (2 or 3 chucks) to my characoal the last 30 minutes of grilling. The Pork Loin tasted truely wonderful. This is my new favorite grilling rub! I'm looking forward to trying it on chicken, beef rib roast and shrimp. I'll continue to repurchase this Piri Piri in the future!
