Spiced pecans are one of the most popular types of party nuts and this is a palate pleasing spiced pecan recipe with a delightful twist - Chinese Five Spice! It's sweet, savory, and ideal for holiday parties.

The five base flavors of Chinese cooking - sweet, sour, bitter, salty and savory are wonderfully combined to create this spicy nut recipe. There's also some extra sweetness thrown in from the sugar. This was a big hit with our spiced nut taste-testers.

Ingredients:
  • 1 large egg white
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Chinese Five Spice
  • 1 teaspoon Coarse Sea Salt
  • 3 cups pecan halves
Instructions:
  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F
  2. Whisk egg white in a bowl until it is foamy - about 30 seconds
  3. Whisk in sugars, soy sauce, Chinese Five Spice, and the sea salt
  4. Add pecans and toss to coat
  5. Spread an even layer of the pecans on a parchment lined baking sheet
  6. Bake, stirring every 15 minutes, for about 1 hour
