Mayan Chocolate Hazelnut Butter
Gourmet, homemade nut butter is hard to beat. Not only can you incorporate almost any ingredient or flavor that you crave, but chances are you will find that eating healthy can be more delicious than you thought. It sounds exotic and time-consuming but really, this is the sort of recipe you can put together in about twenty minutes and impresses the guests. You'll be the surprise hit of every pot luck. Make a big batch for the holidays, pack into jars, and give away in a basket with your favorite jams.
Because the nuts are processed they can be subject to rancidity if left on a warm counter for more than a month. Store this in a refrigerator if you live in a warm environment; it will stay good in the refrigerator for several months.
- 1 cup hazelnuts
- 3/4 oz dark chocolate (60% cocoa)
- 1 Tablespoon Mayan Coco
- 1/2 tsp honey
- In a food processor blend for hazelnuts for 5 minutes, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed.
- While hazelnuts are blending, melt chocolate in a microwave at 10-15 second increments.
- Add melted chocolate to the food processor.
- Add Mayan Coco to the food processor.
- Process for 1-2 minutes, or until smooth.
- Add honey and blend for an additional 5 minutes.
