Chai Baking Spice Blend is a fragrant, salt-free and MSG-free seasoning blend. It is also known as chai spice powder, chai masala blend, masala chai, or chai spice mix.

Chai is a highly spiced, fragrant, aromatic spiced tea that originated in India. It is a combination of black tea commonly found growing in Assam, mixed with the spices that also grow in India. Chai appeared on US coffee shop menus in the early 1990s, usually as a liquid spice mix. This blend delivers all the flavors of a coffee shop mix, in versatile powder form.

Chai Baking Spice is popular with breweries, seasoning companies, manufacturers of baking mixes, and spice and olive oil shops.

Flavor Profile

Chai Baking Spice tastes nutty and woodsy with a warming, sweet heat.

How to Use

Chai Baking Spice Blend is wide open for multiple uses. It can, of course, be used to create a Masala Chai. It can also be used as the primary seasoning blend in spice cookies swap in as the main flavoring when making Healthy Carrot Cake Squares. Canners can use this blend to make Chai Spiced Peaches, or swap out peaches and use plums or apricots. Make breakfast a breeze by using it in Chai Spiced Overnight Oats. Mix with bananas for Chai Banana Muffins or put bananas and Chai Baking Spice into a blender with yogurt for a smoothie.

This blend has savory uses, too. Sprinkle on cubed butternut squash and roast, and top risotto or a creamy pasta with roasted cubes. Stir into rice, or toss over pork chops and pan-fry. Craft cocktailers can steep this in syrup for a chai-spiced simple syrup that will make unforgettable old-fashioneds.

Love this Spice Blend So far I have used it in Carrot Cake and Banana Bread. Brings baking to a new level. Can't wait to try it in Chocolate Cupcakes.

Spicelicious I bought this for a chai-masala apple cake and it was delicious. I've used it in chai banana bread and also a pinch in coffee. It's good in so many things and so fragrant! You can smell it through the box and 2 heavy plastic bags. My kitchen smells fabulous, it would make a great potpourri

Chai Baking Spice Blend I use it as one of the spices in homemade muesli. Both of us love this one! I haven't yet used it in baking---despite the name---but, I can tell that it would be great in a plain vanilla pudding or custard and maybe even a plain muffin base. No time for that yet, though.

Way too peppery. It smells sooo good and I could not wait to try it on my breakfast oatmeal but the black pepper flavor overpowers everything else, not pleasant on my oatmeal.

Cashew Milk Chai This is perfect blend for nut milk chai! I’m looking forward to use in baked goods but in the meantime, my Cashew Milk Chai is so much better!
