Coriander Seeds, Coriandrum sativum, is also known as coriander seeds, bulk coriander seeds, coriander seed, or coriander. They contain a minimum essential oil content of .3%.

The coriander plant produces both a fruit, known as Coriander Seed, and leaves, known as Cilantro. It is indigenous to the Mediterranean region; the oldest known coriander fruits were discovered in an archaeological dig in the Nahal Hemar cave in Israel, and date back to approximately 7600-6000 BC.

Coriander Seeds are popular with seafood, Middle Eastern, American, and Mexican restaurants; brewpubs; seasoning companies; specialty soda and sparkling water producers; jerky, fermented foods, and pickling manufacturers; breweries; distilleries; and independent spice shops.

We also carry Ground Coriander and Indian Coriander Seeds

Flavor Profile

Coriander Seeds taste mellow, sweet, and warm with citrusy undertones.

How to Use

Coriander Seeds can be enhanced by lightly dry roasting the whole seed. They add brightness to rich dishes, like Mole Poblano or the filling, hearty Moroccan Soup. Add extra fragrance and a citrus lilt by putting them in Braised Ethiopian Collard Greens. Grind toasted Coriander seed for spice rubs, like in this blackened Flat Iron Steak and Carrots With Parsley Pesto. Coriander Seeds are a great addition in Vegetable Jalfrezi, a spicy vegetarian curry or in Albondigas - Spanish Meatballs. Coriander seed is a versatile spice that can be used in savory applications, in pickling, and is found in sweets like spice cakes, apple compote, and braised pears.

Coriander Seed pairs well with winter squash, beans, meats, leafy greens, cumin, cucumbers, potatoes, rice, black pepper, apples, plums, mushrooms, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, mace, chiles, galangal, and ginger.
