Smoky Molasses Rub
Smoky Molasses Rub
Smoky Molasses Rub is a savory/sweet blend that’s great for barbecue, kebabs, smoking, and grilling. It’s got an enticing amount of depth. This blend is also referred to as molasses seasoning or hickory molasses rub.
Dark, sticky, slightly funky molasses is a by-product of sugar production. The liquids in fresh sugar cane are extracted into a “juice” and clarified by heating and mixing with lime. It can go through as many as three refinements, resulting in bittersweet, hyper-concentrated blackstrap molasses. Molasses is an effective ingredient if you want to introduce limited sweetness with the glazing properties of sugar.
Smoky molasses rub is sought after by:
- olive oil shops;
- seasoning companies;
- independent spice shops; and
- food and condiment manufacturers
Flavor Profile
A rich and aromatic combination of dark caramel and spicy, smoky chipotle, balanced with sweet bell pepper and fruity notes of orange and chile pepper.
How To Use
Use Smoky Molasses Rub on Low & Slow Oven Baked Ribs, and then make some Smoky Molasses Rub BBQ Sauce for serving. Toss chunks of chicken with this rub and thread on skewers for Chicken and Sausage Kebabs. Rub on steak and enjoy Grilled Steak Salad with Chimichurri Sauce. It would also work in Indian-inspired dishes, like Tandoori Pizza or for a twist on the bean dish Rajma. Our customers have used this rub on pork chops and on smoked brisket.
