Asian Chicken Lettuce Rolls

Asian Chicken Lettuce Rolls
Asian Chicken Lettuce Rolls

Our Asian Chicken Lettuce wraps showcase a new blend, General Tso’s Secret. This blend is savory and garlicky and a little bit funky, and full of umami so it can complement a wide range of foods. We decided to pair it with Asian Chicken Lettuce Wraps in order to experience the way General Tso's Secret plays with chicken, as well as with the crisp textures of water chestnuts and cucumbers. If you have other vegetables you'd rather use, then by all means do!

We cooked our chicken in red chili oil because we are crazy about spicy food here. If you want to tone it down use a neutral oil like canola or vegetable oil.

Cooking Time: 10 min.
Servings: 4
Cooking Method: Stovetop
Cuisine: Thai
Ingredients:
  • 2 Tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 Tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger Powder
  • 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chile oil
  • 2 teaspoons hoisin sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Korean Chili Flakes
  • 1 teaspoon General Tso’s Secret
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped
  • 1 cucumber, peeled, seeded and chopped
  • 5 ounce can water chestnuts
  • 1 head Boston lettuce
Instructions:
  1. In a bowl, whisk soy sauce, sesame oil, Ginger Powder, and rice vinegar together.
  2. Cut chicken into bite sized pieces and add to soy sauce mixture. Cover and refrigerate for an hour.
  3. Heat a wok or a large pan to high and add red chili oil or canola oil with a pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.
  4. Drain liquid off of chicken and add chicken to wok. When chicken is almost cooked through, add hoisin sauce, Korean Chili Flakes, and General Tso’s Secret and mix well. Cook until chicken is browned. Remove chicken to a bowl and set aside for a few minutes, to just start to cool.
  5. Add cilantro, cucumber, and water chestnuts to bowl with chicken and toss well.
  6. Assemble rolls. Place about 1/4 cup of filling mixture on Boston lettuce leaves and roll up. Repeat until finished.
