Let’s talk about sauce! Sauce is a French word that comes from the Latin word salsa, which means “salted”. Whether a sauce is a thin liquid, a cream, or semi-solid, its function is to add moistness, flavor, and visual appeal to a dish. Meat, veggies, fish, casseroles, and pastas are often complemented by sauces. Choose dried herbs and spices such as oregano, basil, thyme, tarragon, parsley, rosemary, or garlic - any of them would add a punch of flavor to your sauce.
